Did you know this about Rosedale?

Rosedale encompasses the area between the CPR railway tracks to the north (just below St. Clair Avenue), Bloor Street to the south, Yonge Street to the west, and Bayview Avenue to the east. It’s a central neighbourhood that includes one of the largest crossroads of the city, Yonge and Bloor, and has Mt. Pleasant road running right through it. Rosedale had Ontario’s fourth Government House, called Chorley Park, built for the Lieutenant Governor in 1915, and demolished some 40 years later by Toronto to save money. Now it’s a park!

Kenneth Thomson made Rosedale his home. He was the richest man in Canada and the ninth richest in the world when he died in 2006

Rosedale was where the Canadian Football League’s first Grey Cup game was played, on former lacrosse grounds.

Cheryl and Samantha know it extremely well and therefore understand why you are interested in this area. The Graff Girls explain that the neighbourhood was formerly the estate of William Botsford Jarvis. Named by his wife, granddaughter of William Dummer Powell, for the wild roses that grew there in abundance. It is located north of Downtown Toronto and is one of its oldest suburbs. Rosedale is Toronto’s wealthiest neighbourhood and an enclave for some of the city’s biggest mansions.

Today, Rosedale offers easy access to everything in the City — halfway to the Danforth or Yorkville, halfway to the Financial District or Yonge and Eglinton, and like all downtown, starting to fill with new voices, young families, and caring neighbours.

Today, these homes are on the older side and require maintenance and/or renovations but you can also find homes where somebody else has done this for you. The good news is with the age comes beautiful large mature homes.

As for fine dining, Samantha and Cheryl are very familiar with upscale restaurants such as Sorrel, Quanta Basta, Cappocaccia as well as the famous Terroni on Price Street which is excellent for single, couples or families.

Rosedale Park was the site of the very first Canadian football championship game, the Grey Cup, and hosts the lively annual community fundraising fair, Mayfair. For over 40 years, area residents who gather to celebrate the warmth of their community have enjoyed Mayfair. It is an opportunity to meet and visit with friends, old and new. Mayfair is said to define the spirit of this special neighbourhood.

Chorley Park sits above the sprawling ravine of the vast Don River Valley. The park is filled all year round with dog-walkers and nature seekers. Chorley Park connects directly to paths that lead to the Evergreen-Brickworks, a spectacular community environmental centre that holds farmers’ markets and other events in its wetland nature reserve.
